Réva Winemaker Daniele Gaia hosting a private tasting with Ottawa sommeliers
Discover Piedmont’s most exciting winery projects: Réva
*organic, vegan-friendly*
Last week, we welcomed Daniele Gaia from the winery to meet our industry friends and family. In honour of this visit, our team has pulled together a special offer for you to order some of his rarest bottles directly from Piedmont.
Hailing from the northwest corner of Italy, Réva has a dynamic relationship with tradition. This attitude is reflected in their winemaking that communicates the extraordinary possibilities of the Langhe and Barolo regions.
Available Now:
Réva’s Nebbiolo d’Alba 2020 is purposely made to emphasize the pureness of the fruit, instead of putting forward a ‘young Barolo’. The wine is pure red, without a tinge of orange. A vibrant, light and elegant wine with minimal extraction.
Barbera, on the other hand, is a grape with low tannins. This example is a blend of fruits coming form 55 year-old and 12-year old vines. Daniele described his Barbera d’Alba as ‘good to drink’ and ‘great for food pairing’, and we concur.
Pre-Order by May 30:
The Langhe Bianco is a blend of Sauvignon Gris and Sauvignon Blanc made in a brilliant yet restrained style, with racing acidity. Impressive mineral-driven texture, helped by extended lees contact throughout the winemaking.
Réva’s Barolo is the epitome of its house style. A blend of four plots, including 50% from Cru Bussia, to express the many faces of Nebbiolo. Highly drinkable.
Daniele likes to say that Ravera is the “Cru of the future”. It is the last hill of the Barolo delimitation. Barolo Ravera is made of 100% Nebbiolo Michet, a clone that is prized for its small berries and concentrated character.
Cannubi is the most famous Barolo Cru, yielding wines that are consistently elegant. Evidently, this Cannubi 2018 scored 95 points with James Suckling.
Last but not least, the inaugural Cru Lazzarito Riserva 2016 is a coveted rarity with only 1500 bottles made. It already displays an incredible range of flavours in its youth, with the best expression only to be realized two or so decades from today. 97 points – Decanter.
