Garage Wine was literally started in a garage in 2001, by Etobicoke expat Derek Mossman and his wife Pilar Miranda.
The idea was to make wine on a small scale, a personal scale, by hand with the family. The project, quite literally, emulates the ‘garagiste’ style, a stark contrast to the large, traditional estates and Viñas that dominate the Chilean wine scene.
Winemaking is as low-intervention and sustainable as it gets – all wines are fermented with native yeast, see no additions of any kind, very little new wood, and are low in sulphites. They also use recycled wine bottles, painted silk screen labels and hand dip the top of each bottle with a wax seal.
