A few weeks back, we spoke with Alessia C. Travaglini about her family’s winery in northern Piemonte and the truly intriguing wines made there.
I’ve been a fan of her family’s wines for quite some time now and have often surprised dinner quests by blind tasting friends and family with the Travaglini Gattinara DOCG Classico currently available through Vintages for $37.95. It is certainly most worthy of your attention, especially if you are partial to the Nebbiolo grape, but would like to move out of the usual Barolo/Barbaresco axis. There’s a very particular delicacy and finesse I find in these wines that is simply irresistible.
You can find Part One right here, and look out for an upcoming piece where we taste the highly regarded Tre Vigne.
