2023 C’est Trop Rosé, Méditerranée IGP, France (Alcohol 12.5%, Residual Sugar 2 g/l) LCBO Vintages $15.95 (750ml glass bottle)

This nifty little Grenache, Cinsault, Rolle rosé blend gives one a perfect little hit of the Mediterranean for a damn reasonable $15.95.

Again, we aren’t talking about complexity here, but simple juicy, crisp, dry, fruit-driven, rambunctious drinkability. And what’s not to like about that?

The nose is all about red berry fruits, watermelon, peaches, and a subtle herbal note. On the palate the wine is lively and frisky enough to balance out the ripe red berry fruit profile. Coming in at 12.5%, it’s a lighter style, but it displays surprising balance in the mouth. The finish is modest, and not in any way extended, but it does make you look for the next glass, which is always a good sign of a decent rosé in my book. This is all parcel selected fruit and first-run juice, so there are less rough edges than one often sees in rosés at this price point.

This drinks enjoyably all by itself but performs really well with grilled fish (salmon/trout) or pork chops with grilled peaches/apricots.

Like all the better rosés, it vanishes pretty quickly, so best to buy a few bottles.
