Selbach-Oster has made wine for 400 years. Their steep slopes produce Riesling wines of top quality, grown in harmony with Nature, entailing lots of time-consuming manual labour, and it is these values they seek to preserve.
Greystone draws its name from the unique limestone conglomerate that we find as the bedrock on which the vine roots grow in. A limestone mix of fossils, seashells and small pebbles that have been fused together through the seismic movement of North Canterbury, New Zealand. Riesling loves limestone soils, and it shows in their wines!

Although this comes from Selbach’s négociant arm, it has the same balance of joyfully fresh, ripe fruit and pristine clarity that is Johannes Selbach’s trademark. Blended from fruit grown in Dhron and Brauneberg, two areas south of Zeltingen, it’s spicy and juicy, the gentle acidity tugging at the wine’s green-plum flavours, harnessing it to a firm, savoury minerality that brings the wine to a clean close. Score – 93.

Greystone Riesling 2018

It is fabulously fruited and elegantly fragrant on the nose showing white fleshy nectarine, lemon peel, apple and floral characters with subtle spicy complexity. The palate displays excellent weight and focus, superbly structured by fine texture and racy acidity. Wonderfully poised and charming. Style: Off-dry. At its best: now to 2028. Score – 95.

Selbach Riesling Saar Kabinett
The hand-harvested – perfectly ripened, healthy grapes came from old vines (70 years old) on a steep incline in the upper Saar valley (a tributary of the Mosel river).
Multifaceted with “crisp” fruit. Citrus, apple and some mirabelle. Shows the expressive minerality of the slate terroir.
“Old” style: off-dry, with good fruit, only moderate sweetness and a cool minerality
