As well as being an accomplished visual artist and broadcaster, the charmingly ebullient Peter Wilkins also happens to be the co-founder (along with chef William Carter) of Newfoundland’s very first craft distillery, the Newfoundland Distillery Co.
We sat down for a chat about the newly released Gunpowder & Rose Spiced Rum, now available for $45.35 for a 750ml bottle at an LCBO near you.
It’s a rather fascinating take on aged and spiced rum and was integral to nursing me back to health during my recent inaugural run-in with COVID-19.
While I’m not stating that Peter’s rum has any scientifically proven medical benefits, it certainly did help take the edge off what proved to be an incredibly unpleasant week between Xmas and New Year.
I’d highly recommend you pick up a bottle as a “winter warmer” to assist you through the frosty months ahead; consider it a Canadian winter essential.
