Contact us today at Southbrook Vineyards to reserve your spot for our inaugural “Taste the Place” weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake. This exciting new concept is the brainchild of our owner, Bill Redelmeier, who recognized how much it resonates with our customers when we point through the Tasting Room windows into the vineyard to say, “This Cabernet Sauvignon you are tasting was grown right there.” To further intensify this ultimate terroir concept, and to underline the awesome advantages of our organic and biodynamic vineyard, Bill conceived of an event where all our featured wines would be tasted right in the vines where they grew!
We will be releasing several new wines from our small-batch Whimsy! family and we’ll pour each of them for you in the actual block of the vineyard where they were grown! See the soil and the sun and the people who all came together to put these remarkable wines into a bottle. To accompany you through our vineyard, we will provide a member of our dedicated winemaking and viticulture team – winemaker Ann Sperling, vineyard manager Scott Jones, associate winemaker Brian Hamilton and assistant winemaker Samantha Beck will take you on your “walk, talk and taste” of discovery and they will share their insights and answer all your questions. Bill Redelmeier will jump in on some of the tours as well, and he and co-owner Marilyn Redelmeier will also be available in our hospitality pavilion to further expound on our architecture and design, and of course, our LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold designation.
Small groups will tour every half an hour starting at 1 pm on Saturday, June 26, with the last group leaving at 5 pm. On Sunday, June 27, we’ll start at noon and send the last group out at 4 pm. Each walk will last about an hour. Call us right away at 1-888-581-1581 to book your preferred time.
And then taste the food …
To add to your enjoyment of the outdoors that weekend, we will be offering a box lunch/dinner that you can take into the vineyard to enjoy alfresco. Catered by Ravine Deli & Bakery, we ask you to book before June 21st so that we are ready for your visit.
For $20 (tax included) you can choose from these delectable options:
- Box lunch: chilled BBQ 1/2 chicken, Gummi’s Organic Garden crudités with dip, house-made pan bread with artisan cheese and a chocolate crinkle cookie;
- Box lunch (vegetarian option): a hearty pasta salad will replace the chicken; or
- Snack for two: Artisanal cheese and charcuterie, with baguette.
Place your order when you call and we’ll take your Visa or MasterCard number to confirm. When you pick up your meal, you are then welcome to take it out anywhere in the vineyard to eat – bring your own blanket or use one of our picnic tables.
Another option, of course, is our Pizza Patio which will stay open a little later that weekend. It is first-come, first-served, with a menu of three pizzas with local, seasonal toppings. Pizzas are $10 each.
Last details – “Taste the Place”
Please plan to arrive 10 – 15 minutes before your tour time so we can keep to schedule, as there is a lot to pack in to an hour!
The ground can be uneven, so please wear flat shoes. Bring your hat and sunscreen too!
We’ll be ready to walk rain or shine, but if the weather takes a real wet turn, come out anyway because you’ll still be able to taste the new releases under a tent looking out at the vineyard.
If your plans are unavoidably altered, please call us so that we can turn your space over to someone from the waiting list. They will really appreciate your consideration.
