Bill Redelmeier is rallying the troops again. The Southbrook Vineyards proprietor is organising another foray for the Seriously Cool Chardonnay group of Niagara, Prince Edward County and Okanagan Valley producers of the widely planted white grape. This time they are heading to New York City for a tasting on March 8. The group will be pouring 54 VQA Chardonnays from 31 wineries, ranging in price-point from $50 or more to $15 or less. Each bottle was selected blind from a panel of expert judges led by Tony Aspler. The New York venture follows a successful one in London last summer, and comes in anticipation of the independently organised International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration, or “I4C”, in Niagara this July. I caught up with Redelmeier on February 22 at a pre-tasting event in Toronto to shoot the video below.
