This year’s Hot Docs festival is once again virtual, and one of the more interesting entries is director Scott Gawlik’s Set!. Set! is about competitive table setting on the fair circuit in Southern California, and Gawlik knew he was onto something when he stumbled into this world, so he did what film directors do and made a very entertaining movie about it. I know because I got to see a sneak peek of Set!, and once I did, I knew I had to fire up the Zoom machine and talk to Gawlik about the film. Our conversation makes up the video interview below.
