The Case For Wine has a special allotment of Sandrone’s 2016 Valmaggiore Nebbiolo.
“In a region full of outspoken, colorful producers, Sandrone remains soft-spoken and rather shy, but his wines speak for themselves rather eloquently.” – Antonio Galloni
Luciano Sandrone 2016 Nebbiolo d’Alba Valmaggiore ($58.95 per bottle – 10 six packs available)
Luciano Sandrone is the producer whose wines are most reminiscent of Burgundy, the polished texture, silky tannins, immense concentration – with grace, make them some of the most sought-after wines of Piedmont. The wines are wonderfully pure and vibrant with seamless seductive textures. They drink well young and age like a dream.
The Valmaggiore Vineyard in Roero, with an over 50% incline in certain parts, is planted to 8,000 vines per hectare and the soil is made up completely of pure sand and fossilised crustaceans, this imparts a remarkably aromatic and graceful expression to the Nebbiolo.

We’re not the only ones smitten with Valmaggiore, the Wine Advocate recently awarded it 94 Punti.
