A hastily Photoshopped Gabe Demarco battles with Marco Giulioli.

A rather hastily Photoshopped Gabe Demarco from Cave Spring battles with La Guardiense’s Marco Giullioli over which grape is the better of the two, Falanghina or Riesling. Note : Photoshopping not by me.

Over my decades in the industry I’ve been invited to my fair share of interesting wine events, and I’m always on the look out for unique experiences when it comes to wine seminars and tastings.

Last month The Vine Agency hosted a small gathering of wine folks to a comparative tasting that pitted the Rieslings of Ontario’s own Cave Spring Cellars against the Falanghinas of Campania’s La Guardiense, an utterly fascinating smackdown if ever there were one.

In this extended video I decided to take a rather different approach to interviewing, cutting back and forth between Cave Spring’s Gabe Demarco and La Guardiense’s Marco Giullioli as they talk up their favourite varietals.

Thanks to all those lovely people at the The Vine for such an enlightening morning of wines.
