On a lovely sunny Toronto Summer’s day Good Food Revolution conducted another guerrilla winetasting in Trinity Bellwods Park, this time with New Zealand Winemaker Mike Weersing of Pyramid Valley.
Mike was still recovering from a weekend up in Prince Edward County with the infamous Norman Hardie, but was still in fine form for our interview, that is until he discovered that it was to be recorded on video.
Thankfully Mike gradually shed his camera shyness and went on to speak his mind about natural wines, screwcaps, cultivating one’s own yeast cultures, and all manner of other hot topics.
The previous week we had the pleasure of tasting his wines at a small-meet-and greet at the Black Hoof’s cocktail bar, and so were delighted when the bottles started getting cracked open…
Mike Weersing’s superb biodynamic wines are available through Mark Cuff at The Living Vine.

Edinburgh-born/Toronto-based Sommelier, consultant, writer, judge, and educator Jamie Drummond is the Director of Programs/Editor of Good Food Revolution… And he is looking forward to seeing Mike down in New Zealand next year.
SOOO glad to see/hear my son Hugh’s hero – as The Part Time Wine Man, Hugh uses these wines on his Timeline pic on Fb! Has just stayed with me for Beervana Wellington, and was talking all about Mike’s wine and reasons for being here in NZ 😉
Go Mike!
