The Gundy/Aitken brothers are back with a third location of their boutique butcher shop, Olliffe. This time it’s in the old Sausage Partners space at 1378 Queen East, at Greenwood. Olliffe on Queen, like the original store on Yonge and Summerhill, and the Sasauge King stall they run at the St. Lawrence Market, will feature sustainably raised meats, with an emphasis on heritage breeds.
Ben and Sam Gundy grew up in Southwest Ontario, and much of the secret of their success to date has been their ability to source directly from farmers they grew up with in Huron County. What’s particularly exciting about the new Queen East location, beyond serving the community between Riverdale and the Beaches, Sam Gundy explained to me, on a just about to open visit this week, is that the provincially inspected butchering and food preparation facility means that Olliffe can offer it’s meats and sausages wholesale. Watch for the Olliffe moniker on discerning menus henceforth.
