Wonderfully fruited and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows rock melon, Gala apple, feijoa and lemon peel aromas, followed by a succulent palate that is intensely flavoured and vibrant. The wine offers charming fruit intensity backed by bright acidity, finishing long and vibrant.

Latricieres-Chambertin is an 18.2 acre Grand Cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. The vineyard is just south of Chambertin, and it is essentially flat. There are 12 property owners within Latricieres-Chambertin, which has been farmed as a vineyard since the 16th century. Medium intense smudgy ruby. Very light, almost bonbon nose. Rather harsh and chewy. Hint of animal and masses of tannin still.

The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Cazetiers has a voluminous, fruit-forward bouquet with ample redcurrant and cranberry scents, though I find more clarity and terroir-expression offered by the Champeaux at this point. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin – tart red cherry fruit and quite saline in the mouth, leading to a precise but quite persistent finish. This is a “serious” Cazetiers that will need a few months to lighten up. (Reviewed by Neal Martin for Robert Parker; 224, The Wine Advocate)
