Woodman Wines & Spirits presents a California Pinot Noir to look for at Vintages…
Nielson Pinot Noir Santa Barbara County 2017
LCBO# 438523 | $29.95
The Draw:
Few wines scream ‘drink me!’ like Californian Pinot Noir — huge, up-front fruits of black cherry, strawberry and raspberry wash over the lush, succulent palate. Officially the Santa Barbara appellation, Nielson pulls fruit for this bottling from Santa Maria Valley, Los Alamos, and Santa Rita Hills. Their respective zones contribute aromatics, weight and power, harmonizing to create a wine of great substance.
The Winery:
Part of the prestigious Jackson Family Wines, Nielson takes its name from founder Uriel J. Nielson, who planted Santa Barbara’s first commercial vineyard in 1964. The wine is an exceptional introduction to the region and represents a tremendous value.
Pairings and Tips:
First thing’s first, don’t forget to chill this wine down for 15-30 minutes in the fridge. The right temperature often escapes when enjoying during barbecue season. The acidity and fruit make it a natural at nearly every dinner table. If you’re feeling adventurous in kitchen, partridge with spiced plums or duck with mango would be amazing pairings. Bringing sweetly spiced ingredients into the fold highlight the wine’s natural brightness.
