Chateau Peyros Vieilles Vignes Madiran 2016
LCBO# 234997 | $23.95
Red cherry robe, intense and brilliant. The nose is now well opened with intense notes of fruits (cherry, raspberry, black-currant) with notes of vanilla and lightly toasted. The mouth is both powerful and elegant. Tannins are present and well coated. On the palate, fruit aromas are really dominating with a long finish. 80% Tannat, 20% Cabernet Franc
Food pairing: roasted meat, (lamb, beef), saucy meat, spicy beef tartar, duck breast
“Power and concentration from the old vines behind this wine is expected, as is the density and dark black fruits. A delicious surprise awaits in the elegance and balance of this wine. It is still a little young, so drink from 2021.” 92 Pts – Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, April 1, 2020

“The 2017 Chianti Classico Clemente VII is bright, punchy and full of character. With lovely red berry fruit, floral notes and a kick of orange zest that adds brightness. The Clemente VII is soft and fruity in style, with lovely polish and fine balance. If opened young, it will show best with a few hours of air.” 92 Pts – Antonio Galloni. Vinous.com, August 2020

Sierra Norte Equilibrio 4 Monastrell DOP 2018
LCBO# 18930 | $14.95
A cherry-red colour with a garnet rim and ruby glints. Slow-trickling fine, clean tears. A complex nose with a harmonious mingling of black fruit and sweet spices, together with vanilla notes. On swirling, red berry fruit aromas gradually come through with hints of forest floor and damp earth. Flavoursome, fresh and slightly balsamic on the palate with good body and a good presence of ripe tannins. A lingering spicy finish.
Food pairing: Excellent with charcuterie, roast meats, stews, grilled red meats and white meats.
“A balanced Jumilla (not an oxymoron) that shows blueberries, tea leaves and licorice. Medium-to full-bodied with grainy tannins and juicy acidity throughout. Drink now.” 91 Pts – James Suckling, July 26, 2019

Chateau de Nages Heritage Vieilles Vignes Red 2018 Organic
LCBO# 40964 | $20.95

“The 2018 Costières De Nîmes Vieilles Vignes should also be outstanding. Medium to full-bodied and elegant, this classic Southern Rhône red has complex notes of dark fruits, violets, pepper, and an attractive, Herbes de Provence-like character. Made from 70% Grenache and the rest Syrah and Mourvèdre, two-thirds destemmed and brought up mostly in concrete, it’s going to be another smoking value” 89 – 91 Pts – Jeb Dunnuck, August 16, 2019
