Michael David Petite Petit 2019 – $28.95 – #213017
The 2019 Petite Petit is a wine packing a serious punch. The grapes in play here are Petite Sirah (a.k.a Durif at 85%) and Petit Verdot (at 15%), and both are known for growing berries gushing with flavour and tannin! Expect big blueberry and black cherry fruit with coffee and vanilla bean notes, sweet’n’spicy oak, and lots of soft, ripe tannins. Dense and intense! Perfect for hearty stews, grilled steak or sausage, and aged hard cheeses.
Villa Mora Montefalco Sagrantino 2013 – $26.95 – #342394
To allow the multitude of tannins to soften, the 2013 Villa Mora Sagrantino is aged for five years before it leaves the winery, and this wine has now reached the ripe old age of 8! The developed flavours of bramble, black pepper, cocoa, coffee, balsamic notes and sweet tobacco are unavoidable as the impact of the wine hits your palate and draws out over a lengthy finish. Great for red meat and game dishes, or hard, aged cheeses.
Warre’s Quinta Da Cavadinha 2005 Vintage Port – $54.95 – #21811
The high-elevation vineyards of the Cavadinha estate produce late-ripening grapes with intense structure and colour, which are blended with the concentrated, aromatic fruit from the lower vineyards along the Pinhão River. The result is a very well-balanced, rich port wine, able to age for years or decades further, or for decanting and enjoying tonight alongside a selection of strong cheeses.
