The Montreal Smoked Meat Battle:
Over my years at Good Food Revolution I have been warned many a time that (being a Montreal smoked meat novice, and a Scottish one at that) I should never even dream of touching upon a very touchy subject.
The subject being “Who makes the best smoked meat in Montreal?”
“Leave it alone you daft ginger galoot” I was warned… “You will upset too many people who really know what they are talking about when it comes to such matters!”
As is my nature, after hearing such words I gladly sallied forth into the Great Smoked Meat Battle… with an open mind and palate… and secretly hoping to bump into Nana Mouskouri. It’s the glasses.
SCHWARTZ’S Vs. MAIN
Edinburgh-born/Toronto-based Sommelier, consultant, writer, judge, and educator Jamie Drummond is the Director of Programs/Editor of Good Food Revolution… And he realises that he is in no way an expert when it comes to such matters.
Charles is going to batter you with a wooden stick, Jamie.
– Schwartz for life.
I think this is fair and balanced, Jamie, as well as being completely wrong!!! Obviously the beer swung your vote, but Schwartz’s used properly ought to be either a Sunday hangover cure or a prophylactic before a serious Montreal night of drinking… at least that my recollection from being 20.
