During an interview with Decanter magazine, famed Rhône Valley Producer Michel Chapoutier added even more fuel to the fire that is the seemingly eternal Natural Wine debate by basically stating that it’s a load of old cobblers.
In the interview featured in the March edition of Decanter, Chapoutier controversially states:
‘It is extraordinary that people defend products with defects on the grounds that in the past growers were making wines with defects, so that is good, or natural. Those old wines had defects because people lacked the tools and means not to make fault-free wines.’
Now that is sure to have the world’s Natural Wine fans up in arms…
