The one and only Jennifer Heuther MS
At it again this year, in a heated food and wine pairing competition, were Jennifer Heuther, Bruce Walner, and John Szabo (Canada’s three Master Sommeliers). This year George restaurant was the venue, with Chef Lorenzo Loseto having created some deliciously difficult challenges for the three competitiors.
Presented by Lifford, Ponte, and the Visa Infinite Dining Series this thrilling event is now in its second year. Anton Potvin (former owner of Niagra Street Café, and wino of the highest order) was the host of this heated vinous competition. Knowing the guests is half the battle when the voting is in their hands. Of course the room was filled to the brim with industry lifers and genuine winos.
- Table talk wasn’t for the inexperienced.
- Stuffed Artichoke, Cherry Tomatoes, Burrata was Chef Loseto’s second course – devoured in seconds
- Reigning victor Jennifer Huether has her go at first course with an I Sistri Chardonnay 2010 IGT, Felsina
- Veal Tenderloin, Porcini Muchrooms, Fava Beans
- John Szabo, aka The Samurai, woos the crowd with his charm and notable experience.
- …but the winner is…Bruce Walner! Taking home the bragging rights of 2013.
- Competition can get nasty, but this one was all in good fun.
Robin Wilson is a avid eater who enjoys the finer things in life… including John Szabo’s charms.
