In the first part of another extended two part interview (our interviewee certainly likes to talk!), we speak with German-born, Martinborough-based vigneron Kai Schubert of Schubert Wines.

We explore his winemaking journey from Germany, via Oregon, to New Zealand, and his move to organic viticulture, as well as his amusing take on the more mystic elements of biodynamics.

We also taste his absolutely stellar 2018 “Block B” Pinot Noir that I review right here.

The most enjoyable Pinot I have tasted in quite some time… an essential purchase IMHO.
