Nicholas Pearce presents the wines of Château Lamartine for Malbec World Day, April 10…
Château Lamartine ‘Cuvée Tradition’ Malbec, Cahors 2016
$21.95/bottle ($263.40/case*)
Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean sea in Cahors AOC, Château Lamartine is a historic winery that has been bottling Malbec since 1883. For four generations, the Gayraud family has given the greatest care to the vines and the wine-making. The result is an authentic expression of Malbec that is unapologetically South West of France.
Château Lamartine’s ‘Cuvée Tradition’ Malbec is rich and robust, boasting ripe dark fruits, a touch of vanilla, and a great acid backbone to maintain its structure.
A top value, fragrant, and succulent red wine to sip along with your favourite salty and fatty protein.
“This focused red delivers smoke and mineral undertones flanking the plum and currant flavours, backed by moderate tannins. Accents of bay leaf, spice, violet and black liquorice create depth and interest through the energetic finish. Malbec [90%] and Merlot [10%]. Drink now through 2028.” – 90 points, Top 100 Wines of 2020 – Wine Spectator
