This time of year has to be my favourite when it comes to Ontario’s bounty of fruits and vegetables, the tail-end of Summer working into Fall/Autumn bringing us some of the tastiest offering imaginable… especially those perfectly ripe and succulent Ontario tomatoes.
So what better a time to visit our friend Joe Siegal of Hi-lite Fine Foods down at Toronto’s Food Terminal to find out just what is going on. This season’s Market Report also sees a couple of guest appearances from a couple of Joe’s favourite Farmers; Michael Gomes tells us all about those delicious tomatoes, and Joe Eszes speaks to the hardships suffered by his pear trees this Spring.
