Domaine Jean-Claude Chatelain
Vignes de St-Laurent l’Abbaye Pouilly-Fumé 2013
Here’s a tremendous value offering that’s sure to be snapped off the shelves.
John Szabo MS calls it “a crisp, elegant, mineral and highly representative bottle of Pouilly-Fumé.”
Domaine Chatelain is a newcomer to the Ontario market, but has a long history in the Loire. Founded in 1630, the property has remained in the hands of its original family – now in its 12th generation.
Though Chatelain controls 30 hectares in Pouilly-Fumé, this particular site was first planted in the 12th Century by monks of the St-Laurent Abbey. Soils are a mix of Kimmeridgian, Portlandian and Silex; vines average 25-30 years of age.
A fine white to shake off the winter blues and look forward to the first spring dinner parties around the corner.
