Drink Better presents a new mixed case from the California iconoclasts…
Our first J BRIX SIX was a big hit last summer, and we’re back with Volume 2 – a sequel containing three new wines we can’t wait for you to try. We know that the soulful wines from New California low-intervention producer J. Brix have been really popular with our customers from the very first vintage we received back in 2019 – and we get requests weekly from fans for new wines from Jody and Emily Towe. We’re proud to offer you this 6-pack of stunning bottlings from three renowned California vineyards.*
Our J BRIX SIX – VOLUME 2 contains:
• 2x 2019 Audire Pinot Noir
Kick On Ranch Vineyard, Santa Barbara County // 160 cases made
The Santa Barbara area is a very special place for Pinot Noir. With warm days and cold nights, the Los Alamos part of the region (between the Santa Maria and Santa Ynez valleys) offers up incredible concentration, acidity, and balance. If you love Pinot Noir (and who doesn’t?!) this bottle is a must-try. The climate here delivers some stunning and ethereal wines well worth the investment. Here, complex aromas of cranberry, dark raspberry, earth and mushroom translate to tart red fruit on the palate and some sous bois, with a delicate touch of spice. 13.5% alcohol. • 2x 2019 Limestone + Schist Chardonnay
Rorick Heritage Vineyard – Calaveras County // 220 cases made
We have several customers who eagerly anticipate the return date of this wine. Since like all J Brix wines it is made in TINY quantities, you will need to grab it while it’s here. This is a truly standout small-production Chardonnay that embodies what we love about California – it’s lemony, full of luscious tropical fruit goodness, and gives you loads of mineral delight and no overt oak. The Limestone + Schist Chardonnay is from organic own-rooted wines owned by Forlorn Hope’s Matthew Rorick, a good friend of Jody and Emily. 13% alcohol. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE.
• 2x 2019 Wild Wild Sea Chenin Blanc
Jurassic Park Vineyard – Santa Ynez Valley // 125 cases made
This is one of the rarest wines from our friends at J Brix. This wine delivers sunshine-y yellow apple, tart green apple, and the slightly savoury and honeyed qualities we love in Chenin Blanc. There is a slight saltiness and hay notes to the finish. Unfined & unfiltered. 11.8% alcohol. CLICK HERE TO FIND OUT MORE.
From J. Brix:
From the site to the soil to the growing season, our wines, if we’re doing our work correctly, will speak in their own voices. We adore the variety California has to offer, which means we find ourselves compelled to make tiny quantities of as many different wines as we can… and, we try to add a new grape or style each harvest. Our fruit comes from a number of vastly different, soul-stirring vineyards all over the state. We use neutral vessels, native-yeast fermentation, and absolutely nothing else, with the exception of sulfur dioxide as necessary. In keeping with this minimalist approach, we choose not to fine, filter or cold-stabilize our wines. Our motto, in winemaking and life: ONLY LOVE.
