This week saw an opportunity to have an extended chat with famed Italian Winemaker Michele Manelli from Salcheto in Montepulciano, Tuscany.
Shorn of the locks he has been sporting for some time, when he first popped up on my computer screen (via the wonders of technology) I honestly didn’t recognise him, but he was quick to remind me that we had met previously back in the Jamie Kennedy Wine Bar days, and before long it was just like old times.
Michele is a fascinating character, as with his Salcheto project he has been well ahead of the curve with many a wine trend over the decades.
