This Saturday, June 8 we have five wines featured in the Vintages release, just in time for an epic kickoff to cottage season! Check them out in your local LCBO store or online at lcbo.com!

Kistler 2022 ‘Les Noisetiers’ Chardonnay Sonoma Coast
95pts, David Lawrason for WineAlign, May 2024
Kistler’s Les Noistiers remains an exemplary take on cooler climate chardonnay from California – thanks to its Sonoma Coast locale, and winemaking that brings out so much complexity and intensity of flavour. Expect big aromas that include pineapple, fairly heavy toast, resin, lemon cream/meringue, vanillin and spice. Yet despite the bags of flavour there is a fine tension and backbone. One almost naturally expects sweetness amid such a display, but there is a fine leanness and linearity as well. And the detail, focus and length are outstanding!

Château Val-Joanis 2023 ‘Tradition’ Rosé Luberon
89pts, John Szabo MS for WineAlign, May 2024
Here’s a plump and ripe, fruity, well made and balanced rosé from the Lubéron, easy and approachable, mostly dry but gentle without any rough edges. Plump strawberry and cherry fruit mixes with peach purée and a squeeze of lemon. Delivers the expected without shaking the foundations. Good to go.
Retail $19.95/btl

Maria Papoila 2022 Loureiro & Alvarinho Vinho Verde
90pts, Michael Godel for WineAlign, May 2024
A Vinho Verde blend of Loureiro and Alvarinho, poised and purposed, of lemon in so many ways. Juiced, zested and preserved with avidity and acidity so persevering it keeps the palate on edge. Yes, a VV of eagerness and enthusiasm, always willing to please and at $18 represents more than quality value, in fact these days the price is truly a steal. Freshness and vivacity guaranteed.
Retail $17.95/btl

McManis 2022 Pinot Noir Lodi
92pts, Tonya Pitts for Wine Enthusiast, May 2024
This wine is rich, concentrated and complex with blue and black fruits. The elegant texture is fresh, offering ripe strawberries, blackberries, persimmons and orange zest intertwined with dried herbs, cloves, dried roses and a long finish. Pair with chicken, fish and hearty dishes.

This wine has nice medium weight and good vivacity. A fun and refreshing palate is filled with a surprising amount of flavors, with lemon, lime, lemongrass, kiwi, star fruit, cut grass, acacia blossom, red and green apple, apple blossom and apple juice. Drink now, on its own, just for fun.
