Le Sommelier has secured a very small allocation of Giacosa’s highly anticipated Asili Reserva 2007 Red Label, which received 98 points from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate! Wines released with a red label mark the winery’s bottling which Bruno thinks represents his best wine in that year’s release. The winery does not release a red label every year, and in fact, there was no red label released in 2011. The first (teeny tiny) allocation has already sold out, and this (2nd) shipment will be ordered shortly, with a September ETA.
Don’t miss this opportunity to buy one of Italy’s most iconic wines from one of its legendary winemakers. Giacosa was born in 1929 and started making wine when he was 14 years old with the 1944 vintage!! Giacosa uses large-format French Allier casks and he changes them every 8-10 years.
We also have a small order of Bruno Giacosa’s 2011 Roero Arneis in transit @ $34.95+HST (case of 12), which should be arriving at the end of July. Giacosa has been making wine from the heritage Arneis grape for decades, and at one point, was one of only five wineries in Piemonte commercializing a wine from it. This is by far the best example of Arneis that I have tasted.
Sincerely,
Le Sommelier

Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Reserva 2007
“The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is a massive, towering wine of majestic proportions. Everything comes together in the glass; expressive aromatics, striking fruit, powerful yet silky tannins and a long, impeccable finish. This complex, kaleidoscopic Barbaresco is a wine for the ages. The Riserva Asili is a surprisingly powerful wine from this vineyard. Readers will have to wait until 2011, when the wine is released, to taste this utterly profound Barbaresco. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2037.”
