2022 La Lepre Toscana IGT
The house wine of Fattoria Le Fonti is named after the rabbit – La Lepre – depicted on the label and is made from a blend of predominately Sangiovese and a touch of Merlot. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve fruit freshness. The wine then matures for four to six months in older French oak barrels prior to bottling. This is the every day wine for Le Fonti – vibrant, easy drinking and perfect match for your favourite take out pizza.

‘The result here is a top notch, clean, fresh and harmonious Annata that also happens to be a sangiovese of higher quantity than many out of the vintage. The acids here are just about perfect and the flavours are as enticing as they are diverse. Without a doubt one of the finest Chianti Classico ever made by Guido and Vicky at this appellative level. Drink 2025-2030.’

‘Though they are in Panzano, the Le Fonti estate is on the northeast-facing side. A touch deeper shade of ruby red, classic and refined, wonderfully layered and elegant, with just a touch of well-balanced, rustic notes in its aromas of tomato leaf, cooling herbs, red cherry, and fresh leather. This moves seamlessly to the palate, revealing a supple texture and a weightless feel, with ripe tannins, a soft, stony texture, and clean, even, balanced lift along with a wonderfully long finish. I am a huge fan of these wines from Le Fonti Di Panzano. Drink 2024-2040.‘
