In 1825, Pierre Faiveley founded the firm that now bears the name Domaine Faiveley. Atthat time, the firm was a classic négociant, buying and selling wine. But from generation to generation, with a strong commitment to the quality of Burgundy, the Faiveley family has purchased vineyards and is today among the largest owners of classified vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise with holdings totaling 331 acres, of which 30 acres are grands crus and 67 acres are premiers crus. This makes them the largest vineyard owners in Burgundy.
Francois Faiveley, was deeply committed to preserving the austere, understated style of Burgundy that he considers to be classic. Despite the fact that Francois’ wines are spectacularly long-lived and do indeed become ‘classic’ after several decades of careful cellaring, his son Erwan transformed the winery in 2007
Francois retired, passing the torch to his 25 year old son Erwan who has returned to the roots of making the wines more soft and approachable. He has achieved this through more care of the vineyards using biodynamic practices, and manipulating the barrel aging.
We also carry other wines from Faiveley not listed below. Please refer to our full price list for selections.

2019 La Framboisière
La Framboisière has been one of the Domaine’s monopoles since 1933 and produces very distinctive wines: intense red fruit aromas and a pleasant minerality.
The wines are aged for 13 to 14 months in French oak barrels (20% of which are new oak) which have been selected for their fine grain and moderate toast.
The result is a Pinot Noir that has a powerful, fruity nose combining rich notes of red and black fruits and a subtle hint of oak. La Framboisière offers a powerful palate dominated by crunchy red fruits. Its velvety tannins and exceptional length.

The wine is then aged on its fine lees for 8-10 months in the cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, enabling it to acquire a certain suppleness and more complex aromas.
.Brilliantly light yellow in color. The aroma is fresh and elegant, with a variety of aromas of white flowers and citrus fruits, lime, lemon peel and minerality. The taste is intense and round, but quite fresh. Young fruits, stone fruits, early sour apple and white flowers. The aftertaste is mineral and creamy.
