I’ve previously been quite vocal about my issues with Amarone and many of the other red wines of Verona, and so it was most refreshing to find a Veronese producer who makes a range of wines with the kind of structure that I find so many of the wines of the region to be sorely lacking.
Winemaker Gabriele Dalcanale’s organic wines under the La Dama label are really quite delightful, and while embracing the traditions of the region, express a vibrancy and tannic value that I simply adored.

Gabriele Dalcanale’s wines that we tasted at La Dama were amazing. I have big happy faces next to my notes on his 2010 and 2011 Amarone. Definitely part of the new wave of Valpolicella producers.
