Getting a 101 in Canary Islands varietals at Archive Wine Bar with Juan Jesús Méndez and Elena Batista of Bodegas Viñátigo.

 

Last week I had a brief but most enjoyable tasting with General Manager Juan Jesús Méndez and Winemaker Elena Batista of Bodegas Viñátigo, a fascinating winery based in the volcanic Canary Islands.

Not knowing a great deal about the very specific varietals grown there, we sat down for a little video interview where they gave me a crash course in these grapes.
