Eugene Mlynczyk MW tips Malcolm Jolley off on the mother of all wine sales.
Eugene Mlynczyk MW is well known to regular Good Food Revolution readers as a poster to the site on behalf of Arterra Wines Canada, a Good Food Fighter. But earlier today Eugene contacted us with news from The Institute of the Masters of Wine, to which he belongs, who are presenting a very special set of auctions organized by the UK house, Bonhams. As he put it in an email, “I’m just trying to pass the word a little bit because there are some truly unique items available including things like private dinner with Jancis Robinson, the entire Château Pichon Baron for a night and lots of amazing older and large format wines.” The two auctions comprise of an online auction, which is live now, and a ‘Super Lots’ auction, which will take place on November 16. I have gone through the catalogues (linked to above) and there’s no way to describe the oenophile insanity on offer – you will have to have a look yourself to believe it.
As Eugene explained, “It’s first ever online auction to create and support an endowment fund for the Institute of Masters of Wine, and it’s great timing because 18 new Masters of Wine were just announced. The wines and experiences on offer, and generously donated by producers and trade, spans the wine making world from Bordeaux to Stellenbosch.
If you know a high roller wino, then Eugene would appreciate it if you would let them know. If you’re a mere mortal cork dork, then have a look at bonhams.com: you can always dream.
