Elena Fucci’s Titolo Aglianico del Vulture 2013

Elena Fucci’s story starts with Elena growing up in the house situated on the vineyard of this wine. It continues with Elena’s passion to study oenology, and her deep desire to want to make something special out of the vineyard she holds dear to her heart. In 2000, “Titolo” was born, first with a consulting oenologist, and then in 2004, with Elena fully at the helm. In 2015, a brand new, state of the art winery was built to welcome the future of this great wine.
 

Titolo is a deep, rich, full bodied, and full flavoured wine, grown on the oldest vineyards on Mount Vulture in the Basilicata region of Italy, where the majority of the vines are 55-60 years old, and some are as old as 70 years. It is grown on a volcanic lava and ash mix, known locally as “pozzolana”” at an altitude of 600m ASL. This is indeed serious stuff, where only 20,000 bottles are made annually.

 

 

Every wine since the 2005 vintage has earned Italy’s most prestigious and internationally recognized award, Tre Bicchieri (3 glasses) from the Gambero Rosso. In fact, Elena Fucci’s winery is the first winery in the Aglianico del Vulture DOC to receive a gold star from Gambero Rosso, which signifies the achievement of having received Tre Bicchieri for ten vintages! To give you a deeper understanding of how few wineries receive this award, only 421 wineries received Tre Bicchieri in 2016, with over 22,000 wines tasted.
