Elderton Estate Barossa Shiraz 2021
#713024 – $24.95

The Elderton estate dates back to the 1890s when it was first planted by German settlers. By the 1970s it was a forgotten property, even though the vineyards were reaching an impressive age. The Ashmead family purchased the property, revitalized the vineyards (including some vines now over 100 years old), and turned Elderton into one of the gems of the Barossa valley. Their Barossa Estate Shiraz is 100% Shiraz, showing dense black fruit, baking spices, and light floral aromatics. The palate is packed with dark berries, chocolate, oak spices, and leaves a lingering finish. The balanced acidity and ripe tannins give solid structure to the wine and allow it to be enjoyed now or drank over the next several years. A classic pairing for lamb and other roasted or grilled red meats like steak or burgers, and a great match for hearty fall stews, and cheeses like edam and smoked gouda.
