“Opening in the glass with generous aromas of plums, cherries, smoked meats and Indian spices, the 2018 Morgon Corcelette is medium to full-bodied, velvety and charming, with a fleshy core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids. Deep and structured, it’s built to age.

Mee Godard founded her eponymous domaine in 2013, and her serious, built-to-age cru Beaujolais merits serious attention. Partial destemming, two-week macerations in cement and élevage in barrels, demi-muids and foudre are the rudiments of her approach. The result is serious, classically balanced wines that are built to age, and I have been remiss in not visiting her domaine.”
