Trying to nail down a perfect weekend in Toronto is like picking a favorite child. With so much on the go at any given time, this city of neighbourhoods always has something to offer!
Start with breakfast at Cafe Belong at the Evergreen Brick Works. We’re partial to the Bricklayers Board with piles of house cured meats and pickles — paired with a glass or two housemade paw-paw soda. After breakfast, explore the seemingly endless ravines or browse the farmers market. Stop in at Forbes Wild Food stand and try some foraged treasures like sea asparagus or choke cherry jam.
When you’re done, catch the free shuttle north to Broadview Station. Take the subway to Spadina Station and head south into Chinatown. Browse the food stalls, indulge in a pork belly steamed boa or cumin scented lamb skewer at a street stall. Meander your way west through the vintage shops of Kensington Market.
Come lunch, stop into Sanagan’s Meatlocker for an all-Ontario Korean fried chicken sandwich topped with kimchi and house made cucumber pickle. Don’t forget the manditory side of fries tossed with fresh chives!
After lunch, head back east down Dundas to the Art Gallery of Ontario. Explore the collections while making your way through Frank Gehry’s weaving staircases and banquets. This is your chance to take in some seriously breath taking views of the city.
Newly enriched, hop onto a Toronto Bikeshare and head west to Trinity Bellwoods Park. This is prime people watching territory, so make sure to stop into the Trinity Bellwoods Tuckshop for a popsicle or rent some racquets or lawn games to work up an appetite.
Once the sun sets, hop on the streetcar and head further west to Local Kitchen & Wine Bar. Tuck into any one of Chef Fabio’s house made pastas — we love the smoked potato gnocchi!
With dinner under your belt, hope into a cab and head north to The Whippoorwill Tavern for ‘A Trip To The Market’. These cocktails change daily depending on what’s in season and showcase everything you love about a farmer’s market… in a glass. Indulge, relax and see where the night takes you!
