‘Clean, fragrant, fruity and supple, Kistler’s Sonoma Coast pinot 2022 is a silky and fluid affair, with ripe red and darker berry, and cola fruit in the west coast idiom, highly polished and savoury. I like the silky tannins, the umami that picks up on the palate and lingers through the long back end. Wood is already beautifully integrated and will continue to melt into the ensemble over the next 2-4 years. Comfortably premium wine, and comfortable in this price category for pinot.’

‘From a ridge-top vineyard (Laguna Ridge) set between the coast and the Russian River Valley, cooler by relative standards and responsible for this spicy red rose floral example of pinot noir. A bit more warmth, developed fruit and spice masala from 2022 and while this may not seem like a vintage to age it does show beautifully well at this early stage. The linger and length are outstanding and without a second sip the wine stays with your palate for minutes on end.’
