Malcolm Jolley talks about the wines of Tenuta Regaleali with Corrado Maurigi…
The video below is the second part of my recent conversation with Corrado Maurigi. In the first parts, which can be seen here, we discussed the Tenuta Regaleali in Western Sicily, where he is Estate Manager, working for the winemaking Tasca D’Almerita family. In this second part, we talk about the wines from Tenuta Regaleali, with particular attention to three that are now available in Ontario:
* Regeali Bianco 2020 / $18.95 btl / Case of 12 / thecaseforwine.com
* Regaleali Nero D’Avola 2018 / $18.95 btl / Case of 12 / thecaseforwine.com
* Regaleali Rosso del Conte 2015 / $67.95 btl / Case of 6 / thecaseforwine.com
As you will see in the video, I was impressed with the first two. The Bianco is a fruit forward blend of Inzolia (28%), Grecanico (29%), Catarratto (35%), Chardonnay (9%) that shows off Regaleali’s high altitude, mineral drive. The Nero is also surprisingly fresh underneath rich notes of black cherry and blackberry. And the Rosso del Conte is a show stopper of dark red and black fruit over minty herbal Mediterranean note.
