Cloudsley Cellars presents its first two 2017 Chardonnays and the 2015 TMB Pinot Noir…

Cloudsley Cellars is thrilled to finally announce the release of our first Chardonnay! We are offering our ‘Twenty Mile Bench’ 2017 Chardonnay as well as ‘Foxcroft Vineyard’ 2017 Chardonnay, one of two single vineyard bottlings from this vintage. The Wingfield Vineyard Chardonnay will be released later this year.

2017 turned out to be a great vintage at Cloudsley. After a wet summer, the clouds parted and we enjoyed fantastic weather throughout the fall. In the end, 2017 produced exceptional wines with excellent flavour and great balance.

After being hand picked and carefully sorted, our Chardonnay is pressed, racked and transferred to select French Burgundy barrels to ferment. As with our Pinot Noir, we do not inoculate but rather rely on the indigenous, or ‘wild’ yeast, for fermentation. The wines are left to age in barrel for approximately 18 months before bottling.

We are also offering the final few cases of our 2015 ‘Twenty Mile Bench’ Pinot Noir. Unfortunately, we are sold out of the Homestead and Glen Elgin Vineyard Pinots, but look for a release of the 2017 Pinots coming late this fall or winter.

This beautiful Pinot Noir is a blend of grapes from the Homestead, Glen Elgin and Edgerock vineyards. The 2015 was a tremendous vintage for Pinot in Niagara and this wine is a great example of why this is. An intoxicating nose and complex palate finishing with great balance.
