In celebration of International Pinot Noir Day, this August the 18th, we sit down for a Zoom banter with a man who knows a thing or two about the grape in question: Austrian-born Rudi Bauer, winemaker at Central Otago winery, Quartz Reef.
Rudi, New Zealand Winemaker Of The Year 2019, makes some mightily impressive still and sparkling wine at Quartz Reef Wines, much of it with Pinot Noir, so we picked his brain about just what the region brings to what ends up in the glass.
