Elena Fucci grew up in the middle of the vineyards that her grandfather Generoso began farming in the 1960’s, selling the fruit to the local cooperative. Rather than sell off the family properties in 2000, Elena Fucci took on the challenge of stewarding the oldest vineyards on Monte Vulture, forever changing the future of the Aglianico del Vulture DOC.
600 meters up on the steep slopes of the dormant volcanic cliffs, Elena Fucci’s organic vines benefit from the intense sunlight, as well as from dramatic diurnal shift, both aiding in preservation of vibrant acidity. The majority of the vines were planted in the 1950’s in the dark, mineral-rich pozzolanic soils that are composed of layers of clay interspersed with lapilli and ash.
The winery focuses on a single cru, Titolo, to best express the characteristics of Aglianico on their terroir.
In 2016, Elena began another passion project, called SCEG, to help out some friends of her 94 year old grandfather Generoso. In order to preserve their vines and tradition, she makes this special wine from his friends’ vines, in four parcels near her family’s vineyards, and vines aging 70+ years.
We are proud to import these masterful wines into Ontario, with 5 wines newly landed and available in consignment, all receiving 92-96+ points from Vinous. We’ve also created a limited edition Mixed Case Elena Fucci so you can taste through the entire portfolio, including a bottle of her Titolio Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
Most of our producers are small, independently owned and operated businesses, like ours. You can view our complete portfolio here. Thank you for letting us share these producers and wines with you.
