Vignoble du Rêveur Artisan 2020

This orange of Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris comes from 40 year old vines rooted in their biodynamic Bennwihr estate. This was native fermented in stainless, where it rested on lees for one year until bottling with light filtration and a minimum of sulphur. Pouring a hazy peach orange hue, this is potent with apricot blossoms, pear skin, wild flowers, ash, on a savoury, super juicy palate. There’s a lovely grip holding in the sides, guiding this to a gently spiced finish. As with all their wines, this is understated, and memorable.

Vignoble du Rêveur La Vigne en Rose 2020

This off-dry blend of Gewürztraminer and Riesling comes from 40-year-old vines rooted in their biodynamic Bennwihr estate. Ten percent of the Gewürztraminer was macerated on skins for ten days and then blended back with the whole for a native ferment in stainless, where it rested on lees until bottling with light filtration and a minimum of sulphur. Gew’s aromatics are at the fore here, with ample apricot, honeysuckle, peach gliding along the juicy, waxen palate. There’s a fantastic grippy salinity framing this, and a buoyant juicy acidity carrying this demi-sec to the ginger-spiced finish. Classic Alsace, revisited. Impressive.

Château Peybonhomme-les-Tours Le Blanc Bonhomme 2021

This biodynamic Bordeaux blanc blends 45% each Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, and 10% Colombard from their clay / limestone soiled estate in Cars, near the Gironde River. This was native fermented in new oak (40%) and concrete. Crisp lemon, crunchy green apple, and Asian pear glide along the medium palate, with shining acidity tempered with an alluring Sémillon waxiness. Lovely light hand and balance in this medium bodied wine.
