Le Sommelier presents the Alexana Revana Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016…
The LCBO brought in many special Willamette Valley wines in advance of the annual Oregon tasting scheduled this fall in Toronto. Unfortunately, that popular event had to be cancelled, so the LCBO is releasing some of these special Oregon wines in this week’s Vintages release.
We’re proud to have Alexana Winery featured in this release. Ideally situated in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Alexana Winery’s 80-acre property possesses an incredibly diverse series of soils and exposures, with eighteen soil types spread over a combination of rolling hills, steep slopes and rugged terrain.
Alexana Winery was born of cardiologist Dr. Madaiah Revana’s love of the great wines of Burgundy. In the spring of 2005, Dr. Revana began a search for both the ideal region and an experienced winemaker with the goal of producing Pinot Noirs that could rival those from Burgundy. His search ended in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Alexana is named after Dr. Revana’s daughter, Alexandra.
Nested within the vineyards in Dundee Hills AVA, the three-story gravity flow winery is a piece of working art. With an committed emphasis on sustainability, the Gold LEED-Certified building features warm wood, floor to ceiling windows and an expansive 20-foot bar with a layered soil display showcasing the L.I.V.E. Certified vineyards and sweeping views across the valley.
Alexana Pinot Noir Estate Revana Vineyard 2016
The Revana Vineyard is planted to 10 different clones of Pinot Noir on 46 acres with 18 distinct soil types. This is the winery’s flagship Pinot Noir, expressing their entire estate’s diverse terroir. Each lot was native fermented and barrel aged 11 months (33% new) before the final blend.
