The Italian region of Abruzzo is marked by the Apennine Mountains and the centuries-old bridleways of the region’s shepherds. These paths wind down from the mountains and around the vineyards at their slopes where the grapes of Terre d’Aligi ripen. The Terra d’Aligi Tatone Montepulciano d’Abruzzo delivers flavours of black currant and ripe red berry fruit, violet notes, and baking spices, all with a fresh and juicy character. These flavours have become well-integrated with the tannins as the wine aged for 24 months in old oak vats, followed by time in bottle. Try it with aged hard cheeses, pasta dishes, and grilled or roasted red meats like burgers or pork tenderloin. Also a great sip on its own, try it after 10-15 minutes in the fridge to bring it down to “cellar temperature” and highlight the fruity notes.
