One of the newer wineries in our portfolio, Frasca explores a different side of Piedmont to the heavy hitters of Barolo and Barbaresco. Frasca’s focus is on the other indigenous varieties of the area, including Arneis, Freisa, and most importantly, Barbera. With 22Ha of vines spread over 4 vineyards situated in and around Nizza Monferrato, their goal is to highlight the region’s potential to produce elegant, terroir expressive wine.
Frasca 2021 ‘Sej’ Monferrato Bianco
90pts Michael Godel for WineAlign, October 2024
‘Sèj, likely “seven” from Piedmontese language, also perhaps tough, or tenacious. A Bianco from the Nizza-Monferrato producer, a mix of 85 percent arneis and 15 rhine riesling for a lovely lyrical spot of Bianco emanating the gilded Asti hills. Not what would be called riveting but instead platinum golden, calming and really quite fine. Suggests at salty but never gets down on that impression. Tranquility in a glass however for soft satisfaction.’

Frasca 2020 Freisa d’Asti
92pts Rolf Madsen for VineXpression.dk
‘Touch of cherry, a hint of sweet licorice, iron and cold tea in the überfat way. Very characterful Freisa wine with lovely gentle extraction, which is lifted by firm tannins. At the same time light and airy in the mouth with a small edge of currant-like acidity. Lies fantastically well in the mouth.’

Frasca 2020 Nizza
94pts David Lawrason for WineAlign, October 2024
‘This is 100% barbera grown in the clay limestone hills of Nizza in the Monferrato zone. Lovely wine! It sports a very nicely uplifted nose of red rose, mulberry/red cherry fruit and a dusting of wood spice from six months in large oak. Lovely nose. It is medium bodied, very smooth and richly fruity, almost sweet, but not through residual sugar. Yet barbera’s natural acidity remains the foundation. This is delicious, with excellent length.’
