In 2012, Bianka and Daniel Schmitt took the reins at Weingut Schmitt in Wonnegau, southern Rheinhessen, as the fourth generation to lead the winery. Centered in Flörsheim-Dalsheim, with vineyards extending to nearby Monsheim and Kriegsheim, they work biodynamically across their 16 hectares and are among only 80 Demeter-certified producers in Germany.
Talented and innovative, Bianka and Daniel craft pure, fresh wines “only from grapes,” embodying a new wave in Rheinhessen, a region once known for mass production. They focus on low-intervention, terroir-driven winemaking, redefining wines from Rheinhessen and standing out as pioneers in Germany’s natural wine movement.
