This week we take a dive into the nascent world of marine phytoplankton nutrition in this two part interview with David Hunter, CEO of Canadian firm Blugenics Innovations and the Karen Project.
David is based in New Brunswick, but has partnered with Fitoplancton Marino in southern Spain, world leaders in microalgae production, to produce his phytoplankton nutritional supplement, marketed under the Karen brand, named after his mother.
Having been used for some time as organic feed for aquaculture, it’s only over the last decade that its use as a human nutritional supplement has begun to be explored. There is a strong argument that it is indeed the planet’s very first “superfood”.
