Ranger Wine is delighted to introduce our clients to the delicious wines of Lyme Bay Winery. Even a decade ago, wine lovers would have been perplexed or even amused to consider the UK a source of great wine and winemaking. However, over the last few years, English Sparkling Wine has captured the attention of wine connoisseurs and tastemakers around the world, winning numerous awards on the global stage in international competitions and developing a loyal following in the UK market, one of the most discerning and important markets anywhere.

But what of the wines without the fizz? Let’s just say that bubbling (!) beneath the surface there are a growing number of wineries making still wines of exceptional quality and value. Lyme Bay Winery, located in the bucolic Axe Valley in Devon is one of the leading lights in the production of English still wine. While the winery has been making fruit-based wines, sparkling wines, ciders and even spirits for years, their still wine program has become a point of focus for the winemaking team. Sourcing grapes from longstanding relationships with growers throughout the UK, the winery is assured of excellent fruit every vintage, establishing a house style that is both subtle and deeply interesting.

Ranger Wine is pleased to be offering in limited quantities, the 2019 Shoreline and the 2018 Sandbar. Both wines are made with the Bacchus grape, a varietal that has found its spiritual homeland in the UK. The wines are low in alcohol, coming in at just over 11% and have flavour profiles that will remind some of Old World Sauvignon Blanc, suggestions of guava and pineapple on the nose and a zesty acidity that will pair beautifully with summer fare, grilled seafood and poultry, mild cheeses and of course, fish and chips!
