Winemaker Christophe Künzli thankfully agreed to an on-street interview, as the restaurant was a little too loud for recording purposes. I think that it turned out rather well.
What with my Mother’s side of the family hailing from northern Piemonte, Macugnaga to be exact, I was fascinated to meet Swiss-born Christophe Künzli and speak about the lesser-known Piemontese Boca D.O.C. that he, quite literally, brought back from the dead.
With his Le Piane project, Künzli has spent the last two decades dedicating his life to making some utterly spellbinding wines from the abandoned hillside vineyards of this once-famous region from Nebbiolo, Vespolina, Uva Rara, and a colourful cast of more obscure local varietals.
